Dear Cindy,

We have just released the results of a three-year investigation into the little-known abuse of very young thoroughbreds―and these horses need your help now.

When thoroughbred racehorses are just 2 years old—and some even younger—they are forced to put on a pointless speed demonstration for potential buyers at auctions around the country. At what are called "two-year-old in training under tack shows," held before the auctions, young thoroughbreds are forced to sprint at reckless speeds―far faster than they would ever race again in their entire lives.

PETA undercover investigators have documented that pushing these undeveloped horses to run at extreme speeds can result in life-threatening injuries, fractured legs, heart failure, and death. Please see what our investigator discovered here.

PETA is urging the four major thoroughbred auction companies, Fasig-Tipton Company, Ocala Breeders' Sales Company, Keeneland Association, and Barretts Equine Limited, to adopt a series of simple reforms that would prevent this suffering.

Please join me today in urging these companies to adopt lifesaving measures to ensure the safety of these juvenile horses.

Thank you for all that you do for animals.

Very truly yours,

Kathy Guillermo
